INDIANOLA -- Viola Evelyn Haag, 83, of Indianola, Nebraska, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Logan County, Kansas, to Leslie Robert and Clara Beulah (Keen) Howell. She graduated from McCook High School in 1942.

On Jan. 31, 1945, she married Alfred Haag at McCook, Nebraska. He died on Oct. 21, 2001. To this union five children were born.

She lived most of her life in the Danbury, NE. area where she and Alfred farmed and operated the Danbury Oil Company. They moved to Indianola, NE, in 1995. Evelyn moved to Hidden Pines at Hillcrest Nursing Home in August of 2006.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Good Friends at Republican Valley Elementary, Red Willow Extension Club and a several card clubs.

Survivors include: two sons, Robert Haag and wife, Kathy and Richard Haag and wife, Janet all of Indianola, NE; three daughters, Dianne and husband, Dean Jones of Riverdale, NE, Darla and husband, Randy Jordan of McCook, NE and Kendra and husband, Brian Jefferson of Central City, NE; a brother, Gary Howell and wife, Delores of Aurora, NE; two sisters, Wavalee Couse of McCook, NE and Bonna Walker of Holdrege, NE; a sister-in-law, Joy McInturf of Holdrege, NE; 18 grandchildren and spouses, Andrew and Elizabeth Haag, Alexander Haag, Lindsey and Nick Koehn; Brady and Angela Jones, Carmen and John Paul, Justin and Cricket Haag; Melissa and Jason Stewart, Aaron Haag, Mark Haag; Jody and Sean Kelly, David and Heather Jordan, Jesse, Randy Francis, Michael and Clay Jordan; Courtney, Isaac, and Brittney Jefferson; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Kristy Latimer and Jen and Jon Tryon; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Alfred; a brother Raymond Howell in 1951 and a great grandson, Carter William Paul in 2003.

Rosary will be at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola, NE, with Father Thomas McGuire officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Indianola, Nebraska.
