U.S. Navy Peace Time Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Chief Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy. On July 5, 1905, there was an explosion of a boiler on board the U.S.S. Bennington while the ship was moored in the harbor at San Diego, California. Chief Gunner's Mate Clausey displayed extraordinary heroism while removing the injured, restored order, and resolved the problem. For this action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on January 5, 1906. He later achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He retired from the U.S. Navy on August 1, 1929.
