Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson

(Marion) 63 year old Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson died at 1:56 p.m. on November 13, 2007 at Marion General Hospital. Mr. Atkinson was born in Marion on January 24, 1944 to the late Glenn H. and Alta M. (Woolard) Atkinson.
Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson grew up in Gas City and graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany before his discharge in 1967. Mr. Atkinson married Virginia L. Duncan on June 7, 1968, she survives. He retired from the Marion Police Department in 1978. "Moose" worked for Active Products and RCA for several years. He enjoyed working in his garage and watching television.
Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson is survived by his wife Virginia and two sons Robert L. (Michelle) Atkinson, New Haven, Indiana and Jason W. (April) Atkinson, Marion, Indiana. Other survivors include two sisters: Sherri (Frank) Andes, Gas City, Indiana and Betty Anne Warren, Tucson, Arizona; and seven grandchildren: Grant, Shane, Katherine, Neal, Breeanna, Taya, and Shelby.
Visitation for Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday November 19, 2007 at the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel at 2722 South Washington Street in Marion. A prayer and memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
A private graveside service with military honors for Glenn R. "Moose" Atkinson will be held at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
