Rotan - Elaine Ballard, 85, died Monday October 29, 2007 at Fisher County Hospital. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday November 1, 2007, in Rochester Cemetery with Dolan Brinson officiating under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born July 23, 1922, in Fairlie, Texas, Elaine was a daughter of the late Walter Fred and Evva (Turner) Neaves. She moved to Spur in 1926 where she graduated from high school and met John Fletcher Ballard. They were married in Spur in 1941 and after WWII they settled in Rochester. Children and grandchildren were Elaine's love and she enjoyed a good game of Skip-Bo. She was very active in the Methodist Church and was known to family and friends to be a devout Christian and very sweet person. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, four brothers, one granddaughter (Tammie Laine LeFevre) and a great-granddaughter (Sidney Ballard).
Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, John and Dickie Ballard of Lubbock; one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Steve LeFevre of Rotan; one sister Mildred Simpson of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Kent Ballard and his wife Sarah, Kole Ballard, Annette (LeFevre) Storrs and her husband Walt, Kimberly (LeFevre) Chaplin and her husband Ben, Patricia Brett LeFevre and her fiancé Blake Barnes; eight great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Cracker Ballard and his wife Lois Ann; one sister-in-law, Revvie Neaves.
Memorials may be made to the Rochester Cemetery Association.
