Nona Laverne Daugherty passed from this life on Nov. 8, 2007 after a prolonged battle with cancer and its complications.

Laverne nicknamed "Pete," short for Sweet Pea, was born July 5, 1936 near the Plainview community to Porter and Letha Wood Nixon. She was one of six children reared as faithful Baptists. She was a life long member of Judsonia Missionary Baptist Church. Laverne felt her greatest calling in life was that of a faithful wife and loving mother to her husband and four children.
