Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Louise “Dot” Allen were held Sunday, April 27, 2014, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, Reverend Jerry Crise officiated. Burial follow; in Hemphill Star Cemetery, Boyce.

Mrs. Allen, 81, of Dry Prong, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at her residence.

Dot was a faithful member of Palestine United Methodist Church which she attended Sunday school and church services at every Sunday, worked with the bereavement committee and was in the United Methodist Ladies Auxiliary. She did special duty elder care and served as commissioner at the election poll.

Dot loved to read, was an avid walker, mowed her own grass and loved to tend her garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Johnny Truman Allen, Sr.; parents, William B. Rougeou and Jewell Turner Mudge and sisters, Ethel Powers and Lucy Mudge.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters; one son; five brothers; one sister; four grandchildren; one great grandson and her two loving and devoted canine companions, Beaucoup and Charlie.
