Oris George Black was born Sunday, December 16, 1923 in Blanding, Utah to George Henry Black and Louise Ann Brown.
He met and married Mary Phyrl Curtis on October 5, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Six children blessed this union. Phyrl passed away on September 26, 1991 after forty-one years of marriage.
Oris was a lifelong resident of Blanding. In his later years, he was able to live at his home under the care of his daughter.
Uncle Oris passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Mark's Hospital in Millcreek Township, Utah of causes incident to age. He was eighty-three years old and was surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blanding North Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 255 East 200 North in Blanding. Calling hours were held on Monday, October 29, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at San Juan Mortuary located at 370 South Main Street in Blanding.
Following the conclusion of the services, the funeral cortege proceded to the Blanding City Cemetery, where Oris was laid to rest beside his beloved wife.
