CLARENDON – Paul Ray Blackburn, 76, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at Sunbridge of Elizabethtown.
He was born Dec. 21, 1927
in Columbus County, the son of the late Samuel Hilton and Mary Elizabeth Polk Blackburn.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea. He was a Mason and Shriner in Darlington, S.C. and sold insurance for America Bankers Insurance Company and Ben Franklin Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Grace Bible Church.
Final rites with military honors will be conducted Monday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at Grace Bible Church by the Rev. Tony Ripley. Emtombment will be in Peacocks Columbus Memorial Park Mausoleum. Peacock Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Long Blackburn; three sons: Tony Blackburn of Valparaiso, Ind., Steve Blackburn of Cope, S.C. and Jerry Blackburn of Crown Point, In.; a daughter: Paula Murray of Long, S.C.; three stepsons: Tommy Simmons of Clarendon, Dale Simmons and Eric Simmons, both of Ash; a stepdaughter: Paula El-Sockty of Clarendon; two brothers: Charles Blackburn of Virginia and Robert Blackburn of Whiteville; a sister: Louise Graham of Clarendon; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Simmons, Dale Simmons, Eric Simmons, Mike Spivey, John Blackburn and Mark Blackburn.
