Harvie Leonard Burke Sr., 79, of Centreville died Dec. 21, 2005, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Born June 18, 1926, in Clifton, he was the son of John and Ruth Mentzer Burke. On Aug. 26, 1946, in Washington, D.C., he married the former Dorothy Herbert, who survives. Leonard was one of the few, lifelong residents of the Centreville and Clifton area. He was a Boy Scout leader, Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and the owner of his own construction trucking business. Besides his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by two sons, Lennie Burke and his wife Paula of Winter Springs, Fla., Wayne Burke and his wife Linda of Stafford; one daughter, Lynn Myers and her husband Craig of Birdsboro, Pa.; one sister, Myrtle Burke of Manassas; one brother, Roger Burke and his wife Margaret of Casanova; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Thomas and Jack Burke; and one sister, Lillian Schafer. The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Penman officiating. Interment will follow in Clifton Cemetery, Clifton.
