His discharge date is 16 Oct 1918, By Death. He was 25 at the time of his death. John Percy Day was on board the ship Cedric on his way to WWI in Europe. Papers state that he died 16 Oct 1918 of bronchial pneumonia. The Cedric voyage began 6 Oct 1918 and ended 3 Nov 1918 at Liverpool, England. John Percy Day died on-board the Cedric on 16 Oct 1918. When the ship arrived at the "Port of Debarkation", John Percy Day was buried, 28 Oct 1918, in Liverpool, England at Everton Cemetery, until arrangements could be made to return the serviceman home. John Percy Day was returned to his family 24 Aug 1920. He was removed from internment in Liverpool, England on 12 June 1920. He was on the ship Antigone that returned to Hobogan, New Jersey on 7 Aug 1920. His father, Thomas Ples Day had hi buried in the family cemetery after 24 Aug 1920.
