Funeral services for Retta Valene Williams Barger, 64, of Soda Springs, were held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Soda Springs 1st and 5th Wards Chapel, with Bishop's Counselor Blair L. Winward conducting. Mrs. Barger passed away Suday, Dec 1, 1985 at the University of Utah Medical Center.
Mrs. Barger was born Oct. 13, 1921 at Lava Hot Springs, a daughter of Edward E. and Hazel Mae Reese Williams.
She was married to William J. Barger on March 9, 1942 at Pocatello. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
She was raised and educated in Lava Hot Spring, graduating from Lava High School. She lived in Lava for 21 years, Conda for 27 years and the past 16 years in Soda Springs. She had been employed as Caribou County deputy assessor for 14 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Soda Springs LDS 5th Ward. She had served as president of the Primary, Relief Soiety and MIA. She also served as ward chorister and a teacher in the various organization of the church.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of the Conda Friendship Club and the Soda Springs Homemaker Club.
She is survived by her husband of Soda Springs; one son and three daughters, William E. Barger, Pocatello, Mrs. Lee (Gala) Godfrey and Mrs. Ken (Colleen) Potter, both of Soda Springs, Mrs. Dane (Darla) Ishihara, Sandy, Utah; 12 Grandchildren.
