Gordon J. Arbuckle, 56, Hertel, died on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth.He was born in Spooner on Aug. 3, 1942, to John and Mina Arbuckle. He graduated from Basic Police Recruit Training and was one of the nine wardens in the state of Wisconsin to be given credentials by the state to enforce state regulations. He was also one of the original reserve officers for Burnett County.Gordon loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and traveling. He was employed for 11 years by Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission as a conservation officer and for a number of years as a part-time officer for the village of Siren and the Burnett County Sheriff's Department. He also worked as a St. Croix Tribal Warden and taught safety classes in coordination with the state Department of Natural Resources.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mina Dawn Copeland and Betty Ann LaVeau; and one brother, Russell Arbuckle.He is survived by his wife, Judy Arbuckle, Hertel; a daughter, April Arbuckle, LaCrosse; a son, Justin Arbuckle, Hertel; a brother, Bill (Robin) Arbuckle, Lake Nabegamon; three sisters Judie (Stan) Cutler, Minneapolis, Marlene (Francis) Sogetay, Webster, and Marilyn (Steve) Gallman, Eau Claire; and cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.The funeral was held on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, with Eugene Bearhart and Pastor Lucy Basler officiating. Interment followed in Viola Lake Cemetery in Sand Lake Township.Casket bearers were Kenneth Pardun, Ken Rusk, John Mulroy, T.J. Edwards, Bradley Bearhart, James Flanigan, and Gerald White. Honorary casket bearers were Eugene Boyd and Wayne Johnson.Arrangements were by Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home
