The subject of this sketch lived until the earlier part of his life in Browns township. While living there he was married to Margaret Smith and to them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. The wife with eight children survives. The children are: Mrs. Taylor Alston of Veedersburg, Mrs. Thomas Swisher of Mace, Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, who is living on the home place in Brown township; Mrs. Elmer Clark, William A. Davis, Charley Davis, and Mrs, Edgar Grimes of this city and Mrs. Samuel Demoret of south of town.
For the past thirty-five years the deceased has lived in this city or near it. He came here in 1894. While living on a farm in Union township before coming here he resided on the Greencastle road. He was a member of the First Baptist church and was a full Mason until a few years ago. Be sides the near relatives mentioned above there are thirty-five grandchildren to mourn for him.
His death has been expected for several days and was due to aggravated case of heart disease and stomach trouble. The funeral will occur Monday afternoon at the residence at 2 o'clock.
