James W. Powers, 24 years old, of New Market, a graduate of Indiana University Dental School, who became ill three months ago while stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, died yesterday in the United States Veterans Administration Hospital.
Mr. Powers entered the Army eight months ago after his graduation from dental school and was a lieutenant at the time he was medically discharged several months ago because of a heart ailment. He was a graduate of New Market High School, a member of Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity, New Market Christian Church and the Scottish Rite.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in New Market and burial will be in Ladoga.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Powers of New Market; two brothers, Clayton Powers and Clifford Powers, both of New Market, and a sister, Mrs. Deloris Back of Indianapolis.
