ALICE LOUISE WARD CURRY, 84, of Duncan, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, in her home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Highland Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Winston Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Alice was born on June 9, 1923, in Hubbard, Ohio, to Calvin Ernst and Laura Mae Reed Ward. She married Harold J. Curry on Aug. 11, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.
She was a secretary at Highland Park Baptist Church in Duncan for a number of years. She also owned and operated her own answering service, and was a homemaker.
She was a 45-year member of the Jolly Dolly Club and was one of the last four remaining members. She was also a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and Lydia Sunday School Class.
Alice was happy with her life. She had the ability to greet each day with eagerness, to meet the opportunities of the day. She enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, and talking to her sister on the phone. Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She always treated them with love and kindness. We will remember her lovely smile, quiet gentle ways and the joy she brought to her family.
Survivors include her husband, Harold of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Mueller; and a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Kimberlie Curry, all of Yukon; a sister and brother-in-law, Estella and Louie Kovacs of Sharpsville, Pa.; three grandchildren, David Bryan Mitchell of Tulsa, Lara Dyan Hall of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ryan Brandon Curry of Yukon; three great-grandchildren, Avery Carl England, Jackson Blaine Curry and Samantha Don Mueller; a sister-in-law and spouse, Mary Jean and James R. Lewis of Gainesville, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her church family of Highland Park Baptist.
