EMMA C. THAYER
Mrs. Emma C. Thayer, 76, wife of the late Captain Chan Thayer, died Saturday
afternon at the Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness. In recent
years she had made her home with a sister, Mrs. John Clorn of 1518 South 12th
street.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Frazier mortuary chapel,
Dr. C.H. Phipps of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be
in Evergreen cemetery.
Born Emma Buritz in New York City in 1871, she was married to Captain Thayer
in 1895. Forty years ago they located in this city. Captain Thayer died 24
years ago.
Survivors are two brothers, Louis Buritz of this city and Joseph Buritz of
Detroit; two sister, Mrs. Clorn and Mrs. Arthur Schuetze of this city.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.
