Lewis was the son of Adam BRUST & Elizabeth HAMMANN.

His wife was Loda Clyone Givens, who he married on August 26, 1907, in Waverly, Pike Co., OH.

They had one son Eugene Haskell Brust.

Lewis & his wife owned and operated a grocery store in Oklahoma City. As a child I spent time in that grocery store and I remember large barrels and big pickles! Lewis and his wife were very kind and nice people.

Pioneer Store Operator Dies While On Trip

Services for Lewis Immanuel Brust, 78, of 2800 NW 13th, a pioneer city grocer, will be 10am Friday in Guardian funeral chapel.

Brust, who would have completed 50 years in business in the same location this September, died after a stroke while vacationing in Ohio.

Born near Waverly, Ohio, on Sept. 18, 1880, Brust came to Oklahoma in 1908 and the next year established a store at 1315 N. Ross -- then a section of farming land. He was the oldest grocer in the city in the same location.

An active member of First Christian Church for many years, Brust was also a Mason.

He is survived by a son, Gene H., 4161 NW 22nd; a brother, George E., 2818 NW 13th, and two sisters, Mrs. John Lillich, Waverly, Ohio, and Mrs. Charles Hawk, New Holland, Ohio.
