Ebenezer is the son of Samuel Pemberton and Mary Frye Leach Pemberton.
At the age of seven years he was adopted by his Uncle, the Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Pemberton, of the Brick Church, for whom he was named and who superintended his education in Boston and entered him at Princeton at fifteen years of age, where he graduated at nineteen.
Studied Divinity but could not be persuaded to preach. Was a tutor @ Princeton University 1768-1772.
Practiced law and briefly taught @ Seminary of Plainfield, Connecticut. Entered Phillips Academy @ Andover succeeding Dr. E. Pierson, however, ill health compelled his retirement. Ebenezer created and sustained the Billerica Seminary (10 years).
