Funeral services for Jacqueline "Jackie" Louise Houston Merryfield Coleman, 81, Oskaloosa, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Holton Cemetery.

Mrs. Coleman died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Hickory Pointe Care Center in Oskaloosa.

She was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Seneca, the daughter of Roy "Jack" E. and Lissa Louise Maud Drum Houston. She attended Seneca High School and graduated from Radford School for Girls in El Paso, Texas, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She also attended Washburn University in Topeka, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, and Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Mo. She also lived in Holton and Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Coleman worked as a secretary for the Jackson County Soil and Conservation District and also worked at the State Bank of Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Art Guild and St. Cecelia Music Club and served as organist for the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, all in Holton. She was an active member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and the Wildflower Society. She was also a Rotary Ann of the Oskaloosa Rotary Club and was an active donor to the Future's Scholarship fund.

She married Richard G. "Dick" Merryfield in October 1947 in Seneca. He died Nov. 12, 1961. She married Roger D. Coleman on Aug. 22, 1974. He survives, of Oskaloosa.

Other survivors include a son, John Merryfield, Ozawkie; two daughters, Ava Merryfield, Manhattan, and Lynn Sparks, Oskaloosa; three grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
