Born March 1893, according to the 1900 census. Son of Isaac Cheney & Sarah A. (HOOPAUGH) BROOKS.
“CHARLES RICHARD BROOKS DIED LATE LAST NIGHT
Charles Richard BROOKS, the 13-year-old [sic] son of Mr. and Mrs. I. C. BROOKS, died last night at 11 o’clock at their home in Girard, after an illness of five weeks of typhoid fever.
Master BROOKS was a bright young man, who was very popular among his friends and playmates. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their friends in their sad loss. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family (Catholic).
The funeral will occur this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Church of the Holy Family and will be conducted by Father SCHLENKE. The interment will be in Linwood cemetery.”

The funeral of Master Charles Richard BROOKS, whose sad death occurred Thursday night at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. C. BROOKS, in Girard, took place yesterday afternoon at three o’clock form the Church of the Holy Family, conducted by Father SCHLENKE. The interment was in Linwood cemetery.
The following young men acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Nobie WATKINS, Harry GARRETT, Abner VANN, Ernest JONES, Wesley RICE and Miles SCOTT.”
