Garland A. Perry, age 88, a resident of Boerne since 1978, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007. Born on May 5, 1919, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Houston Perry. Serving two terms as County Judge, he loved to research history and was the author of two books: "Images of Boerne and Kendall County," (originally published in 1982 and updated in 1999) and "An American Saga: Life of William Hughes." He also updated the book, "A New Look at Nine Years with the Indians." An unpublished work to his credit was "Forty years after the Argonne." A retired Lt. Col. In the USAF, he was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. Along with many other activities in his life, Mr. Perry had also been an insurance agent and real estate broker. Preceded in death by his parents as well as 3 Brothers and 7 Sisters, Mr. Perry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Newsome Perry; Son, Tom Perry and his wife, Vicki; Grandchildren, Branon and Bane Perry. The Visitation will be on Monday, September 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Conrad Archer, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Boerne Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Vaughan's Funeral Home of Boerne.
