Born: May 23, 1829 New York

Died: July 4, 1909 Toronto, Kansas

Moved from New York to the State of Wisconsin sometime in the fifties where he married Miss Casual (Caswell) who died after one year. He again married in 1867 to Miss Martha Low. To them was born three sons, Chas. F. Hopper of Ashkash, Wisc., Wm. A. of Toronto, Kans., at who's home he was living at the time of his death and John L. of Denver, Colo.

He came to Chatauque County, Kansas in 1890 and from there to Woodson in 1896 where he made his home since.


He enlisted in the 37th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry some time in 1863.
