Shubel (Shubael Peirce) recorded his intention to marry Abigail Mason of Swanzey (Swansey), Massachusetts, September 12, 1778. They were married by Elder Russell Mason at Swanzey (Swansey), November 5, 1778. Shubel and Abigail had 10 children (4 sons and 6 daughters): Hannah (b. 1779), Mason (1780-1858), Shubell (b. 1784), Amos (b. 1785), Abigail (b. 1788), Prudence (Prudy) (b. 1791), Lydia (b. 1793), Clara (Clarey) (1795-1886), Jessie (1798-1830), and Martha (Parry) (1803-1860).
Private Shubael Pearce served in Captain Joseph Willmarth's Company, Colonel Thomas Carpenter's 1st Bristol County Regiment of Massachsuetts Militia when that Company was detached for 6 days service during the summer of 1780. The Company marched from Rehoboth to Tiverton, July 28, 1780 on an alarm at Rhode Island. Shubal was discharged from that service, July 31, 1780 after serving 5 days. While at Tiverton, Rhode Island, Willmarth's Company served under the command of Major General William Heath of the Continental Army.
In 1797, Shubel moved from Sawnsea, Bristol County, Massachusetts to Westfield (now Fort Ann), Washington County, New York where he served during that same year as a Trustee of School District No. 15. About the year 1800, he and his family (4 sons and 5 daughters) moved to Salem in the same county where he lived a few years and then in turn he moved to Hampton in the same county where he resided for the remainder of his life.
