Staff Sergeant REUBEN G DENNARD, Jr., 14140525, Infantry, Company L, 302d Infantry Regiment, United States Army, for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in Germany on 6 March 1945. When numerically superior forces attacked his positions, Sergeant DENNARD tenaciously manned his mortar and engaged the enemy. Knocked down three times by concussion when shells exploded nearby, he regained his position on each occasion and delivered accurate fire on the foe. His brave actions were instrumental in repulsing the attack with heavy losses to the enemy. His conspicuous heroism and supreme devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military service. Entered the military service from Atlanta, Georgia.
