FOR ROLAND J. DELAY
The body of Roland J DeLay, pioneer Atlantan and confederate veteran, who died Thursday night at a local hospital, will be taken to Monroe, GA., this morning for funeral services at Betharaba [sic] Baptist church. Interment will be in the church yard.
Mr. DeLay was well-known in Atlanta, having been a resident of this city since 1881. During the civil war he was a member of the Third Georgia regiment and fought in the battle of Gettysburg. He was a member of the Baptist church and the Mountain Masonic Lodge in Walton county.
He is survived by 10 children, 31 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His sons are D.A. DeLay, Knoxville, Tenn.; J.W. DeLay, Columbia, S.C.; C.L. DeLay, San Benito, Texas; S.L. DeLay, Lumpkin, Ga., and T.M. DeLay, Etowah, Tenn. His daughters are Mrs. S.P. Hunnicut, Mrs. J.T. Turner, Mrs. W.S. Stroud, Mrs. L.E. Dease and Mrs. William Owens, all of Atlanta.
