|I agree 100% with Connell about the confusion over Isaac Clute's actual date of death. Despite the 1831 on the tombstone, here's the first page of his military pension file from the National Archives, clearly stating that he died 27 June 1833. But that date is impossible, because probate of his estate began in 1832. It seems most probable that he died 27 June 1832. Note that he was a batteauman. In spite of the wording on the tombstone that he fought at the Battle of Saratoga, and as much as I would like to believe it, I've never found any evidence whatsoever that would confirm that. Has anyone?|
