Mrs. Nicholas Acquard, 76, resident of Oak Lawn Home in Mankato, died Saturday forenoon, March 15, at St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato. She had been hospitalized several days. The former Christine Strauss, she was born November 17, 1898 in Bellechester, the daughter of Henry and Catherine Strauss. She grew up in Bellechester and attended school there. She was married to Nicholas E. Acquard at St. Mary's Church in Bellechester on Nov. 23, 1920. He died Aug. 20, 1964. Since that time she made her home at Oak Lawn Home in Mankato. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bellechester, and a lifetime member of St. Mary's Altar Society. Survivors include one son, Richard of Brooklyn Park; two daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Isabelle) Atkinson, Zumbro Falls, and Mrs. Lloyd (Angela) Majerus of Bellechester; seven grandsons; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anton (Cecelia) Jansen of Rochester. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Bellechester with the Rev. Fr. George R. Kinney officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers were Daniel Atkinson, Jerold Atkinson, Fred Majerus, Warren Majerus, David Acquard and Kevin Acquard.
