Larry Maurice Stoops, 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2005 in his sleep at his home in Brigham City. He was born on May 20, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of Dale J. and Effie Koch Stoops. Larry married his sweetheart, Betty Mayert on December 18, 1981 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Larry was the superintendent of Safeway Bread Plant for 25 years. He loved fishing, doing yard work and spending time with all his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Betty of Brigham City; two sons and one daughter, Terry Stoops of Arizona; Ken Stoops of Tennessee; Cindy McNeece of Ogden, Utah; two step sons and one step daughter, Terry Mather and Craig Mather both of Renina, Sask., Canada; Lori Dawn of Richard, Sask,. Canada; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his parents, Dale & Effie Stoops of Greenfield, Indiana; four brothers and one sister, Kenneth D. Stoops of Cumberland, Indiana; Mike Stoops, Phoenix, Arizona; Randy L. Stoops of Portland, Oregon; Rickie L. Stoops of Phoenix, Arizona; Vickie Crisman of Mt. Home, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Stoops.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Cremation will follow the services.
