Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday at Neil Funeral Home, Louisville, with burial with military rites in German Methodist Cemetery, Bible Grove. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM today. Memorial may be made to the Clay County Cancer Society.
Mr. Ames was born March 1, 1942, in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Dervillo "Bud" and Bonnie Elizabeth (Baker) Ames. He married Dea Lynn Waddle in 1980.
He was a retired carpenter for John Zink of Louisville, was a member of the Portland Baptist Church, and was a US Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Gary of Carbondale, Rich of Montrose; daughters, Kelly Pomeroy, of Peoria, Jennifer Cropper of Mount Carmel; mother of Lansing, Michigan; stepmother, Norma Ames of Louisville; brother, Larry(wife, Barb) Ames of Bible Grove, Gilbert (wife, Orma) Ames, Mulliken MI, Steve (wife, Sue) Ames of Louisville, Doug (wife, Conni) Artin of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Betti Ann (husband, Leroy) Paul and Darlene (husband, Joseph) DeGeovanni, both of Lansing, Michigan. Peggy Ames of Bible Grove, Georgia (husband, Roy) DeFrain of Ohio, Denise Penrose of Canada; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
