Genevieve B. Alexander, 81, Paragon, died at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30, 2004, at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville. The daughter of William O.B. Ballinger and the late Laura (Hughes) Ballinger, she was born July 20, 1923, in Morgan County. She was the widow of George B. Alexander, whom she married April 6, 1942. He died March 28, 1991. Alexander was an office administrator for the Veterans Administration in Indianapolis, retiring Aug. 2, 1985. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School in 1941, and a member of Paragon Christian Church, where she was active with Angel on Guard. Other survivors include two sons, Rex B. and Rick J. Alexander, both of Martinsville; a daughter, Nancy G. Foley, Martinsville; brother, Ancil Dale Ballinger, Spring Hill, Fla.; six grandchildren, Chad, Brad, and Nicholas Alexander, Stephanie Marshall, Heather Bailey, and Rikki Edwards, and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Raymond Ballinger, also preceded her in death. The service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. The Rev. Tom Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon.
