WOLF, Eugene Russell of Rockdale. Age 84. Died 3/9/1959 (Monday) at his home. Services held (Tuesday) in Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in IOOF Cemetery. Rev. M.M. Fulmer of the First Baptist Church officiated.

He was BORN 2/9/1875 in Baxter Co., Arkansas, to M/M. Joseph Wolf, pioneer settlers in that region. His grandfather, Jacob Wolf, worked in the Indian services. Eugene Wolf came to Texas at the age of 16 and located in Austin. In 1909 he located at Rockdale, where he established Rockdale Merchantile Co. located in the building of the old firm of B. Loewenstein, pioneer merchant. In later years he worked as a wholesale traveling grocery representative. He married Miss Lottie Alford of Rockdale on 1/3/1917. He spent the last 50 years of his life in Rockdale. He was in failing health for the past 3 years, but kept in touch with local and world affairs by reading newspapers or listening to the radio. Member of First Baptist Church, Rockdale. He was a trustee of the Rockdale school board.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Lottie Wolf; 2 daughters, Ella Frances (Mrs. A.W.) Williams of Alto, Tx. and Eugenia (Mrs. T.E.) Newton of San Antonio; 6 grandchildren, Kenneth Allen, Thomas Eugene, Mike Russell, Charlotte Ann and Carol Elaine Williams, all of Alto; Tommy Wolf Newton of San Antonio; brother, John E. Wolf of Houston; 2 sisters, Miss Gertrude Wolf and Miss Ima Wolf of Dallas.
