Son of Billy and Catherine Andrews.

Husband of Marlene (West) Andrews.

Father of John F. Andrews Jr., and Wanda Sirko.

He was educated in the public schools in Pamplico and Florence, S.C., and earned his bachelor"s and master"s degrees at A&T State University, Greensboro, N.C.

Mr. Andrews served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

He and his wife, the late Marlene (West) Andrews, were married Oct. 14, 1961, and moved to Centreville, joining the Charles Wesley United Methodist Church. The couple gave birth to two children, the late John F. Andrews Jr., and Wanda Sirko of Woolwich Township, N.J.

Mr. Andrews was a faithful and loyal member of Charles Wesley Church (now New Life UMC) for 46 years, serving in numerous capacities. He was the current president of the United Methodist Men, director of the men"s choir, a member of the pastor parish relations committee and a member of the church council.

Education, specifically public education, was his passion. He loved teaching and working with young people. He believed in the public school system and the right of every child to a good education.

Mr. Andrew"s dedication and long years of service in the Queen Anne"s County public schools earned him numerous honors, awards and accolades. He was the recipient of the 2001 Nancy S. Grasmick Excellence for Minority Achievement Award, and was named the Queen Anne"s County Educator of the Year in 2006.

He was assistant principal of Queen Anne"s County High School.

Knowing that he had a small hand in helping prepare young people to be productive and contributing citizens of the county, city, state and beyond gave Mr. Andrews the greatest pleasure and satisfaction.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher and friend, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His untimely death has left his biological family, church family, school family and the Queen Anne"s County community in deep sorrow.
