Albert 9 years old of Allston, MA Beloved son of James (of the Boston Fire Dept.) & Mary (McCooey) Devaney. Albert leaves his siblings Joe, Peggy , George & Bobby. Lenny & Paul were born after Albert's passing. He was the grandson of Mary (Duffy) Devaney and the late John Martin Devaney who died in November of 1925. He was also the grandson of the late Owen McCooey & Margaret (McSherry) McCooey He was the nephew of Margaret & Annie McCooey and Katherine Breen , Frank, Sadie & Mae Devaney all of Cambridge, MA
Albert was killed in a sledding accident the day after Christmas. The headline from the Boston Post read: Coasting accident is fatal, several are injured crashing into autos. Trolley car is involved in one. Setting aside of some streets maybe sought. Albert Devaney of 30 Riverdale St. Allston dead upon arrival at Summit Hospital. One death and a score or more of injured was the toll taken in coasting accidents in Greater Boston and New England yesterday. Most of the accidents are caused by collision between the coasters and automobiles, and as a result the police reported the death was that of Albert Devaney 9, of 30 Riverdale St. Allston. His sled and an automobile operated by Barney Turin of Hyde Park collided at Winchester and Atherton St on Corey Hill Brookline. The boy was taken to Summit Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a fractured skull.
