Ethel M. Bauer, 98, of Arkansaw died Aug. 10, 2007, at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City

Ethel was born Feb 26, 1909, the daughter of Christian and Abbie (Bundy) Nelson. She was born and raised in the town of Eau Galle, Dunn County. She graduated from Elmwood High School. Ethel married Paul P. Bauer on Dec. 26, 1929, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw. They lived and farmed in the town of Waterville, Pepin County, rural Arkansaw. Ethel was active at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was very active in St. Ann's Altar Society. Her husband, Paul, died Feb. 6, 1999. She had been a resident of the Plum City Care Center for the past seven years.

Ethel was a very progressive woman and learned to drive at a very early age. She was able to help her family and others by driving for them and assisting them in any way possible.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Arkansaw. The Rev. Jerry Hoeser will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
