Ferne Adams, 76, service on Monday

SALEM - Ferne L. Adams, 76, died July 1, 2008, in Salem.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Fir Lawn Mortuary, 1070 W. Main St., Hillsboro.

Mrs. Adams was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Jay, Okla. The family moved to Oregon in 1945.

She met Joseph Z. Adams when his logging truck broke down near a dairy she was visiting. They married Oct. 22, 1946.

Her passion was sewing and she did this throughout her life. She made quilts to clothing and also canned many items, including beets, pears, peaches, jams and prunes. A meticulous housekeeper, she was known for always being well-dressed and styled. She was a professional cake decorator who also worked in the berry fields and at a nut processing plant in Cornelius.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, eldest son, Rodger, and her parents, Jesse and Margaret Warren.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Adams and Kent and Susan Adams; son, Byron Adams and his companion, Annette Brady; her sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Robert Polvi; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Remembrances: Zion Lutheran Church, 30900 NW Evergreen Road, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Arrangements: Fir Lawn Mortuary, Hillsboro.
