SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial Service will be held for Christie Jean Anderson, SSgt. USAF Ret. on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 2:00pm from Couch Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport with Dr. Pat Day officiating. A private family committal service will precede the service.

Christie, age 50, passed from this life on July 25, 2007 from a lengthy illness. She retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service to her country. She was principle trombonist with the Singapore Symphony, as well as numerous Air Force Bands, including tours in Europe. She had the honor of playing many places, including the funeral of President Ronald Reagan and also for the Queen of England. A graduate of Captain Shreve High School where she was drum major, Christie was selected to the McDonald's All-American Marching Band. She received her music education degree with honors from Louisiana Tech, where she was winner of the NMTA Wurlitzer Collegiate Artist Competition. She received her master's degree with honors in music performance from Indiana University. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority; the honorary music society, S.A.I.; and the American Federation of Musicians.

Christie leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Robert T. and June Chastain Anderson; sisters, Sherry Thompson and husband Edward of Flower Mound, TX, and Nancy Fields and husband Daniel of Simi Valley, CA; nephews, David Thompson and wife Kristen, and Kevin Thompson; niece, Crystal Zwahlen and fiancé Jason Rohde; and great niece, Kennedy Michelle Rohde.
