John was preceded in death by his wife Gail Power. He is survived by his brother Rev. Robert E. Power, C.S.B. and sister Kathleen Childs, his children Robert John Power and wife Connie, Colleen Walters and husband David, Richard Power and wife Dana, Paul G. Power and wife Whitney, Annette Haw and husband Kevin, Jerry Power and wife Pete, James D. Power, Marc A. Power, and fifteen grandchildren
John was a 1954 graduate of St. Thomas High School and St. Thomas University both in Houston. John was active in St. Thomas More Catholic Church for over thirty-five years. He was an active member of the St. Thomas High School Alumni Association and an active member of the Maplewood Community Association. He loved sports and the outdoors. For over thirty-five years he worked in the oil industry as a traffic manager primarily with Dresser Industries and M-I Drilling Fluids. John had a special compassion for the sick.
The Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 1, 2001 at St. Thomas More at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to the scholarship fund at St. Thomas High School, c/o John G. Power, Jr., 4500 Memorial Dr., Houston, Tx. 77007. He will always be missed, but never forgotten in our hearts.
