Funeral services were held Tues afternoon, 6 Apr [1948] for Archie Henry Akin, 73, who died Sun. 4 Apr at his home in Campbellsville. The services were held in the home and burial was in the family cem. in Green Co. The services were conducted by the Rev. Abraham Berry, assisted by Revs. Harvey Morrison …. Curry, and D.L. Druien. Akin, a former resident of Green Co. had suffered a paralytic stroke Mon 29 Mar. He first married Miss Victoria Milby in 1895 and she preceded him in death 6 years ago. In 1945 he married Mrs. Emma O'Banion, who survives.
Besides his wife he is survived by children of his first marriage: Mrs. Beckham Judd, Mrs. Thomas Adkins, Mrs. Lester Montgomery, Mrs. Pauline Sutton, Weslie Akin, Henry Akin and Walter Akin, all of Green Co. and Mrs. Elsie
Henderson and Chester Akin, both of Taylor Co; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Jake Akin, Arvy Akin, Lonie Akin, Mrs. Bettie Walker, and Mrs. Laura Marcum all of Green Co. and Mrs. Lula Gardner and Willie Akin, both of Taylor Co; 41
grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Three children, Mrs. William Henderson, Mrs. Fred Henderson, and Ellis Akin preceded him in death. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Green Co. Pall bearers were Jim Akin, Leslie Akin, Tommie Adkins, Harvey ….., Arthur Akin, and Shreve Akin. Flower girls were Milerdine Paxton, Sileen Henderson, Audrey ….., Eunice Montgomery, and ….
