Born in Newton, N.C., he was the husband of Kay H. Smyre and son of Robert Lewis Sr. and Glenda Smyre of Maiden, N.C., and Shelia Smyre.
He was employed by Whisenant Camping Center and was a member of First Baptist Church of Maiden.
Interment: Frederick Memorial Gardens.

A Cowpens man is dead after his motorcycle ran off the road early Sunday morning and struck a utility pole guide wire.
Robert Lewis Smyre Jr., 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:50 a.m. accident about 10 miles west of Gaffney.
