Mrs. Elizabeth Abel, wife of Mr. Roswell Abel, died at their family residence in Rochester, on Tuesday, August 9th, 1876 and the funeral service was held in the Second Presbyterian church, in this city, the day following.
Mrs. Abel was the daughter of Conner and Elizabeth Mason, and born October 22nd, 1790, at Fort Ann, Washington county, New York. She was married to Mr. Abel October 22nd 1807. In the summer of 1816 she united with the Presbyterian church, in Warren county, New York. In 1819 the removed to Essex county, New York, from thence to Clinton county in the year 1833, and from thence to Sangamon county, Illinois in 1839.
On February 4th, 1837, she and her husband united with the Second Presbyterian church of this city.
