A homemaker and resident of Geismar, she died on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 86. Visiting at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Campus 2, Geismar, on Wednesday, July 18, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Irvin Briley. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by her husband, Herbert Vallery Sr.; two daughters, Gloria Nelson and Joann Lockett; two sons, Herbert Vallery Jr. and Johnell Vallery Sr.; two sisters, Lorena Jackson and Agnes Leblanc; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her two sisters, six brothers, mother, father and a grandson. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Fields and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Our Lady of the Lake critical care unit for their care and support.
