"Death of Capt. Adams"
J.M. Adams died yesterday evening at 7:20 o'clock from lockjaw, from which he had suffered since last Friday. Drs. Claypool and Collins who attended him, informed the family early this week that he could not live, but on Tuesday the patient appeared so much better that hope of his recovery was revived, and the announcement of his death was received with surprise and regret by his acquaintances.
The funeral has been set for 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, from the undertaking rooms of F. L. Jones. Lockjaw resulted from an injury to the left knee, sustained by a fall from his horse, more than two weeks ago. Mr. Adams was improving under the care of Dr. Claypool until last Friday, wehn he came to town, and upon his return home, changed the treatment. Lockjaw supervened within a few hours.
"Cap" Adams, the name by which deceased was best known, has resided in Arizona since 1879, and the greater portion of the time in Gila county. He was a native of Texas, and was 47 years of age. His death is the more deplorable for the reason that a wife and seven children are left dependent, and for whom great sympathy is felt."
