Daniel Floyd Kelly, age 58, of Alta, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at his home in Alta.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 4th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Burial and military graveside rites by the American Legion Chalon Post No. 262 of Wall Lake will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with vigil service at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 3rd, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Danny was born on January 3, 1948, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Ralph John and Mary Bernadyne (Cook) Kelly. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1966. On January 4, 1968, he was inducted in the U.S. Navy at Denison, Iowa. He served his country in Vietnam, earning the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the National Defense Service Metal. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1969 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Danny enjoyed raising, showing, and judging 4-H Rabbit Shows. He liked to teach others how to care for their rabbits, by giving workshops for 4-H Clubs, started a Rabbit Club, and workshops on tattooing rabbits. He loved to do yard work and tend his vegetable garden and flower garden.

He worked for Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. in Storm Lake, Iowa, for many years.

He leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters: Donald Kelly and wife Pearl of Imperial Beach, CA, Larry Kelly and wife Cynthia of Estherville, IA, Margaret "Peggy" Cowlham and husband Ralph of Odebolt, IA, Sally Heinrichs of Carroll, IA, William "Bill" Kelly and wife Barb of Lewisville, TX, and Mary Stout and husband Perry of Alta, IA; many extended family members including many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Bernadyne; brother-in-law, Bill Heinrichs, and nephew Jeff Heinrichs.
