Leonard L. Hill, age 84, of Canton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Summerfield, OH on April 14, 1921 to the late Raymond and Jesse Hill, after high school he went to serve his country proudly in the United States Army during WW II and earned the rank of Cpl. Leonard worked as a crane operator for Republic Steel where he retired from in 1984 after 42 years of faithful service. He also worked many years in the rental business having built the properties by hand. Leonard liked sharing stories and was a very hard working man who enjoyed being around people. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and bob Hill, and sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Schell. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Viola Hill, three daughters, Gloria (Joe) Leeson, of North Canton, Barbara McCartney of Canton, and Diane (Bob) Radtka of Massillon; three sons, Leonard (Debbie) Hill of Canton, Tom (Cheryl) Hill of Massillon and Terry (Darleen) Hill also of Canton; step-son, Dale Trott of MD., 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two half-brothers, Willard and Bernard Hill of Canton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2006 in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor, Ted Dyer officiating. Burial to follow in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
