Marion B. Adriance, age 95, of Decatur Street in Corning, NY died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Bath V. A. Medical Center.

Marion was born on February 9, 1912 in Fruitdale, AL to William and Iva (Chaffee) Russell.

She graduated from Northside High School and taught elementary school for a short time before working as a secretary at Ingersoll Rand. She entered the WAVES during World War II, and worked as a clerk in the Brooklyn Navy Ship Yard. After the war she again worked for Ingersoll Rand as a clerk until her retirement in 1974. To say that Marion was an active and energetic lady would be an understatement. She was actively involved with Grace United Methodist Church and the Business and Professional Women's Club of Corning. She was a charter member of the Women's Bowling Association, Women of the Moose #326, Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame, Corning Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame, Priscilla Club, and she was the historian for Northside High School's Alumni Council. She enjoyed traveling and dancing.

Marion is survived by her nieces and nephews, James DePaul of Elmira, Merrilyn Lewis, Nadine Winter, Pamela Russell, Anita Gee, Janice Brannaka, and Niles Russell; cousins, Joanne Balcolm, Kathy VanGorder, and Lucille Beckwith; several great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning. Funeral services will take place there on Thursday at 10:00 AM with Reverend Kathleen Turnbole officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at Bath National Cemetery.

Marion's wishes were to have memorial contributions go to the Grace United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 191 Bridge Street, Corning, NY 14830.
