SHREVEPORT, LA- Mrs. Evelyn Austin, 78, passed away in Palmetto, Florida on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Monday, June 25th, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. with a vigil service following. A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26th at the Cathedral of St. Johns Berchmans with Msgr. Carson Lacaze officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Evelyn was a native of New Orleans LA and a resident of Shreveport for 55 years. She was a member of St. Johns Cathedral, Queens Workers, Eucharistic minister and Shreveport Arts.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her sons, Jack Michael and Patrick Bryan; grandson, Gerald Pinkard III; and her husband, Jack G. Austin.
She is survived by six daughters, Katherine A. Moore, Diane M. Boswell, Suzan Austin Cox, Peggy Beasley, Sharon E. Austin and Carroll Mellina; three sons, Mark K., Richard J. and Wayne H. Austin; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patsy Carroll Short.
Pallbearers will be Mark Moore, Mark Austin, Mark Liebel, Kevin Dinkins, Wayne Austin and Richard Austin.
