He married Geri Klemm in Maui, Hawaii, June 23, 1976. After moving to the desert in 1978, he was a 20-year member of Shadow Mountain Golf Club and got his only "hole in one" on the 16th hole in 1993. He was also a member of Santa Rosa Country Club and American Legion Post #301 and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Rae Dicks of St. Louis Park, MN, Polly Keeling of Tempe, AZ and Kati (Jim) Major of Coachella, CA; 5 sons, John (Judy) of Maplewood, MN, George (Shawna) of Woodinville, WA, Gary (Becky) of Fallbrook and Michael (Ellen) of Stillwater, OK. He is also survived by 3 daughters he acquired when he married Geri and called him "Daddy", Kathy Klemm of Anaheim, CA, Karen Pinckard (Grady) of Winnsboro, LA and Karla Raley (David) of Idyllwild CA. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and his former wife, Ruth Dicks of Mission Viejo, CA.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Cathedral City, CA. There will be a private inturnment at Riverside National Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made to the Living Desert or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
