Edward M. Blackburn, 59 yrs., 113 25th st. nw.Edward M. Blackburn was born in Pennsylvania (county unknown). His first marriage produced a daughter, Margaret Anna Blackburn (b. ca. 1895 in New Castle, Lawrence Co., PA). The family moved to northern Virginia (near D.C.) and was living there in 1910 when Margaret was 14 years old. Edward had remarried by then to a woman named Cassie N. (Stoneburner) Shugars. Cassie had been married previously and had children of her own when she married Edward. He was, at one time, an upholsterer and, later, a watchman with the Federal government. He never attended school but could read and write and was the author of many poems (none published). His daughter, Margaret, married Richard Hezekiah Waple of Fairfax County in 1913 and that union produced one child, a son they named Harry Edward Waple(b. 12/20/1914). Harry became a pioneer of sorts in the field of physical culture during his youth and later became a physical therapist in Alexandria, VA before moving to Troy, NY where he owned and operated a very successful credit collection business. He passed away on January 20, 1992 at his home in Troy, NY. He had two sons, Harry Edward Waple, II (by Lona P. Vogt) and Robert Gibson Corder-Waple (by Audrey Irene Corder).
