Killion was an early settler of Borger, having pioneered the City in 1926. He built and operated Borger's first brick building, a hotel known as the Betty Jane, named after his daughter. The building is presently the Bi-Rite Drug Store building.
Killion also owned and operated the Maxwell pharmacy located in the Miller Building. He founded and operated the Killion Gas Company of Borger. He retired from active business in 1942 and moved to Amarillo where he resided at 1224 Eleventh Street with his family.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a Protestant church member.
Mr. and Mrs. Killion were married in 1919. Mrs. Killion was the former Marie S. Taylor.
He is survived by his widow, Marie; a daughter, Mrs. Gene Kitchen of Borger; two sisters Mrs. James S. Green of Borger and Mrs. Mary Crowe of Oklahoma City; and a brother Harry of Amarillo.
Services are pending. The body is resting at Boxwell Brothers in Amarillo.

Final rites for John Irving Killion, pioneer Borger resident, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Boxwell Bros. Ivy Chapel in Amarillo. Mr. Killion died Wednesday at St. Anthony's hospital after a lingering illness.
The Rev. James T. Carter of the Polk Street Methodist church, Amarillo, will officiate, and interment will be in Llano cemetery in that city.
Pallbearers will be Ben H. Stokes, Borger; Fland Layton, Borger; Marvin Stone, Pampa; Sam Dunn, Raymond Gill and Harold Erlandson, all of Amarillo.
