Hosea Alexander Davis, first son of Zaborn and Esther Davis, came with his parents to Marion County in the early 1820s and settled in the Waterhole Community. He owned and operated a mill in connection with his farm on Ten Mile Creek. Died of pneumonia, attended by Doctors Hart and Hudnall. When taken ill, Hosea was on a visit to his daughter, Elnora Davis Luter and he attempted to ride horse back to his home, but was forced to stop enroute at his son, Jesse Crawford Davis, where he died. He is buried near his old home site, about three miles south of Kokomo. Following text was taken from Luter-Davis and Allied Families (Upton:1959).

Married Frances Smart 27 Jan 1848, Marion County, Mississippi. Ceremony performed by Lemuel Lewis. Frances is the daughter of Jane Perkins and John Smart.

Children: John Smart Davis (1850-1878), Andrew Fuller Davis (1851-1929), Josea Edmond Davis (1853-1925), Elmirah Caroline Davis (1855-1857), Elnora Emmaline Davis Luter (1855-1880).
